Chlorine in swimming pool water is effective when the PH is kept between 7.2 and 7.6 if the PH is above 7.6 the water is too alkaline and must be decreased by addition of a high PH adjuster (PH Minus).

How to use pH Minus to treat swimming pool water
Dosage should be affected by adding 60cc of pH MINUS per 10,000 litres of pool water for each 0,1 decrease of pH required. After the dosage the pump should run for about 4 hours before the pH is checked again. I If unsatisfactory, the dosage procedure should be repeated.
